I had a very productive weekend. I finished the first outline for my book, and have started the second one. I am feeling pretty good about that but I am also constantly reminding myself that it is one small step toward a much larger goal. For more on goals and how easy it is to talk yourself out of being productive, see this very brief TED talk.
I’ve still got a lot of prep work to do and not a lot of time to do it in. I’ll be participating in NaNoWriMo again, but that wasn’t the original plan. I was in the process of getting my ideas in order when it dawned on me that it was almost November. Trying to get the book done over the course of NaNo is just one more way I’m trying to motivate myself.
Thankfully, this year a group of us over on SideQuesting.com are all participating. The plan is to do some posts to help motivate each other (and ourselves in the process) and potentially do a few writing jams via Google Hangout. We also hope to podcast a few times through the course of the month to talk about our progress, how we’re staying motivated, etc. I’ll keep you posted as things unfold. For now, check out my introductory post. I’ve added some good reading material and some resources that will hopefully help get you started.
