Morning Pages

While doing prep for NaNoWriMo yesterday, I came across an exercise called “Morning Pages” that intrigued me. The idea is that first thing in the morning, before you do anything else, you write three pages, long form and preferably hand-written.

You don’t have to do creative writing. You don’t have to make any logical sense. The idea is to use it as a way to clear your head. Want to write about something that is bothering you? Do it. Want to make a list of random stuff you should get done that day? Do it.

I used my first day of morning pages to put down on paper some concerns I have regarding NaNo. The pages aren’t meant to be shared with anyone else, but they do help clear the dust. It is a good way to start the day. I am hoping to keep it up from here on out.
